Արի-Արենուշ Կարգեր
Worldwide, Scouting has a system of ranks in which Scouts learn specific skills in areas around Scouting, physical fitness, citizenship, personal growth and Scout Spirit. Each rank is earned in order, as it progressively teaches more challenging concepts. Earning each rank is a great achievement!
In Homenetmen, Ari and Arenoush groups have their own ranking system, called a Կարգ/“gark”․ There are six Ari and Arenoush garks, divided into two phases of a scouts’ advancement journey.
The first phase of the journey includes baseline knowledge of the Scouting ideals and program including Armenian history and heritage. The four ranks in this journey include: 1) Norakeer, 2) Norentsa 3) Pen Gark/Yergrort Gark and 4) Ayp Gark/Arachin Gark.
The second phase of the advancement journey is designed to help the Scout develop leadership skills and are ranks which are administered Regionally and Globally 1) Vegayal Gark 2) Araratian Gark.
Thank you to the work done by Homenetmen Walnut Creek Gars Chapter, our Gark books include both Armenian and English translations to make this knowledge accessible to all our scouts.
